New Passport office opened in Hamirpur : MP Anurag Thakur

Hamirpur MP and president, Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Anurag Thakur today met Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and requested her to open a passport office in Hamirpur.

Anurag informed the minister that a regional passport office existed in Shimla. However, with the advent of time, the workload has increased and there was a lot of pressure on employees. Further, distance was another deterrent for people living in districts far away from Shimla. To make sure that a passport office existed at a central location, Hamirpur had been proposed.

He further said a number of people from his constituency, particularly Una and Hamirpur, travel to the Gulf and other countries in search of jobs and, therefore, they required passport. He said the minister assured him to look into the matter.
